First and foremost why the hell you mix the topic with comparing persons of individuals? I kept ignoring your previous posts just because of your sick attitude. With the hanging of rapist-murderer Dhananjoy Chatterjee in Kolkata, the focus has shifted to another killer facing the death sentence in Orissa for the murder of an Australian missionary and his children.
People are debating if Dara Singh, convicted for the 1999 murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons, will soon meet the same fate as Dhananjoy.
Singh, 40, was sentenced to death by hanging by a district court in September last year while 12 of his accomplices got life imprisonments.
Singh and the others - accused of torching the vehicle in which Staines and his sons Phillip, 10, and Timothy, eight, were sleeping - have appealed their sentences in the Orissa High Court.
In his appeal, Singh said he suspected manipulation by the Central Bureau of Investigation that probed the killings.
"The High Court may uphold the sentence because the nature of the crime is serious," said Sumitra Mohanty, a housewife living in state capital Bhubaneswar. "I don't see any reason why he would be pardoned."
"It is too early to say the sentence would be executed," said senior lawyer Syamananda Mohapatra, who practices in the high court.
"The court has to examine all the evidence again," said Mohapatra.
"Even if the high court upholds the sentence, Singh and his accomplices can file an appeal in the Supreme Court. Besides, they have the scope to file mercy petitions before the President," he said.
