Analysis

Stalin from the beginning projected as a film on the lines of Chiranjeevi’s massive hit, Tagore, for which Murugadoss provided basic story. Hence everyone expected another thought provoking film with doses of entertainment with Stalin. But it is not a Tagore. Stalin is just a typical formula masala film. It does have really good message but unlike Tagore Stalin lacks deft handling. It turns out to be an okay film.

First half is a okay. It’s only the later part of the film that evokes interest. The climax scenes hold interest. They are positive points. Though the message of multi-human chain system is good but the execution lacks punch. One wonders director A R Murugadoss who came up with deftly handled Ghazini has really directed this film! You hardly find his ‘touch’ in Stalin. The execution of the film is pretty lukewarm and substandard.

Chiranjeevi tries hard to make the audiences sit up but the film lacks the usual entertainment that one finds in Chiru’s films and music by Manisharma is a big letdown. Stalin proves the fact that Tagore is the last best film of Chiranjeevi’s in the recent times.

What’s hot

The message of the film is good. When Chiranjeevi comes forward to write for a disabled students, her consequent suicide scenes and Chiranjeevi’s confrontation scene with Prakash Raj are highlights of the film. They have really aroused feelings in the audiences. Chiranjeevi’s enthusiasm to come up with something new with each film is evident in the film but the narration of the film should have been better. The climax and post-interval scenes are good.

Performances

The film has ‘heavy’ star cast but it primarily revolves around only two or three characters other than Chiranjeevi. For Chiranjeevi this role is a cakewalk. For the first time he appears in a Major General role. He looks good in that role too. One expects great songs and dances from him but he doesn’t come up with any great moments in the film.

Trisha does glamour part. She hardly has any role except for shaking legs with Chiru in he songs. For the first time in her career, she does exposing. Khusboo in her role as supporting sister to Chiranjeevi comes up with subtle performance. Glam actress Anushka looks sexy in the item song. Veteran actress Sharada has not much to do. Prakash Raj’s characterization lacks punch. Sunil gets better role in the climax.

What’s not!

If we notice all the three recent Chiranjeevi films, one glaring flaw is that ‘directorial touch’ is touching nadir. Stalin also falls in the same category. Cinematography is pretty ordinary. Lack of comedy and insipid music are main negative points

Bottom-line

Fans will go berserk. They will really like it. For it has scenes that attracts them. For others, Stalin is an okay film. It is better than Jai Chiranjeeva. But again it is not Tagore. Can be watchable for once. That’s it.

Cinema hitta yeti kompadeesi..
