Though a Bachelor, Luckily have entry into Type 2. These are also fun mama.
Type 1 lo if you have ur own gang they are o.k too. But making the type 1 a good party always depends on the HOST. |

I can classify the parties in U.S.A into 3 categories:
1.House Warming, Childs First BirthDay, Surprise Baby Showers, Surprise Anniversary Parties
All of them come into the same category since you have a mixed Audience (Parents,Married Guys,Bachelors,Teenagers, Kids)
2.Regular Friday Get Togethers for new couples with out Kids (once you have kids the tempo changes, so
segragated into a different section)
3.Bachelor Parties (University Students and H 1 Guys) who get together and get drunk and have fun
So are you asking abt the BEST WAY to celebrate a type 1 parties?.
If yes, it is impossible to make them sit at one place. And all the things you mentioned
are the PROBLEMS WITH HOST GUY. Instead of bitching stay away or tell them directly.There are many ways to make a party memorable.
In all the things you mentioned the HOST needs to take 101 course for Hosting parties.

3.ENTERTAINING GUESTS 4.BEING A ICE BREAKER

And regarding late arrivals at parties, it is as usual IST format. I noticed many hosts mentioning the party time as 5:30 or 6:30, instead of a round figure, as they sure do expect the guests to arrive min. half an hour late.
another one I have noticed at many parties is: they dont bring all the stuff they needed for the party. They send people min 4 to 5 times to get stuff from the guests invited.
i have been called for some help by an host who is my team mate. i was helping him since early morning bringing cake ordered from store and moving stuff to the vanue and all. decorating.. it is his daughter first bday. everything is set 1 hr delayed to cut cake.. food is not yet served. finally when the time arrived to cut cake.. there are no candles for the cake. he never informed us or someone to bring it.
anyways he again asked me to run to a near by store and buy one. it is weekend and lanes are pretty big to checkout.. it took 20 mins to get it. when i brought it ... he was frowing at me why you delayed to bring a candle from near by store and blah...
these people dont have senses to get their stuff and ready for the party and cry on others on last minitue for no reason?
one guy arranged party in a local park.. he did not bring trash bags... nor he have big ones to keep one.. we have to run to our houses and bring it put it there..

Ofcourse, for obvious reasons. There is a line between ladies talk and mens talk, and so
they form two separate groups. Also, when it comes to drinks, men prefer to stay away from the ladies and kids gang.
Yeah, here mostly in desi parties, there is nothing but pomp and show. Aunties talk about their sarees, dresses, jewellery, new furniture, back yard, front lawns etc. etc.; uncles talk about stocks, house mortgage, NFL etc. etc. These days, talking about properties and investments back in India has become pretty common in these NRI parties. Teenage girls will be busy on their cells talking to their boy friends, adjusting their hair, every alternate minute, even though it is not required. And uncles try their level best to attract these girls' attention by cracking some stupid jokes, ofcousre not getting away from the sight of their CID wives, LOL
And regarding late arrivals at parties, it is as usual IST format. I noticed many hosts mentioning the party time as 5:30 or 6:30, instead of a round figure, as they sure do expect the guests to arrive min. half an hour late.
And coming to the question, what is the best way to celebrate a party here in US - I guess no one is thinking from host point of view while hosting a party. SO obviously your celebration varies according to your guests. Posh guests, posh celebration, pomp & show. |

We have seen so many people celebrating parties on their own style..
somecase host comes an hour late with their kid for the first birthday and dont even have manners to reason out a single word of apology or something.. and feels great about it.
few people celebrate parties to pamper their best friends at the cost of the whole group in the locality
few people celebrate when they dont have work to do
few people celebrate very nicely with some enthu in it
and many more like this.
