Asked movie guru Ramu garu about the first movie to be screened in US and he sent me the following info in his mail. Thanks Ramu garu.
Major Chandrakanth was the first movie, it was brought for special screening during TANA celebrations in 93 in NYC but later they screened in Detroit, California, Houston etc on commercial basis. Heard that fans did a lot of hungama in detroit (Students of Wayne State University especially), by holding the posters of the movie, pictures of annagAru and displayed them from their vehicles as well as at the theatres.
After that the first movie I have heard of getting screened in the US is pedarAyuDu followed by vamSAnikokkaDu, peLLisandaDi followed by ninnE peLLADutA (I am not sure which one came first among ninnEpeLLADutA and vajram but I went for a show in MD for vajram and the show got cancelled due to less turnout). vamSAnikokkaDu was the first movie I saw in theatre in the US (in MD and during the interval they had the Greater Washington Telugu Association elections were held).
I guess, NBK's dEvuDu was the first movie that had simulataneous release (in Pittsburg Prasad poTlURi of TC.com screened it).

Major Chandrakanth was specially screened at TANA and may be it was the first movie to be screened like that.
Coming to theatrical release, it is Ninne Pelladatha. |

AFAIK it is NTR's Major Chandrakanth which was brought during 93 TANA celebrations in NYC and was screened in other cities after that. This was told by my cousins who have been living here for the last 15+ years. |
