yes ofcourse..they are very ignorant of the developing and underdeveloped world..
at the same time India has nothing that can be discussed..so obviuosly elephants..monkeys..sadhus...dowry..arranged marriages..become the topics.
Just list a few things which you(we) always discuss about west..and see if a westerner can use the same topics for discussion about India... |

Its a common indian custom for women in india to put vermilion on their forehead(bottu) when they get married...ive finally found out why they do this...the brides parents usually have to give dowry to the groom and on the first night the groom scratches off the vermilion to find out what pirze he won in dowry

I was watching octapussy on amc the other night and couldnt help but laugh at the interpretation on India by the director.
Some of the things I noticed....
Since its india the opening shot is that of the tajmahal.
As if by magic bonds helicopter flies around the tajmahal and lands in haridwar

BTW you will be relieved to know that our culinary tastes havent changed,1983....presenting our Delicacy ...Sheep Head with the eye balls et al...followed by monkey brain in 1984 (temple of doom)
Obviously the snake charmers, the old saaDhu on a bed of needles and some arsehole sticking a 4 feet sword in his mouth
