Many films failed to live up to the expectations in spite of huge publicity. But the film ‘Athadu’, which was in the news for a long time has lived up to the expectations. It was released on August 10 but it is already declared a hit.

The film earned Rs 4,26,540 from 10 shows at three theatres in Chennai on the day of its release, which is a record in Telugu film. It also witnessed 100 per cent collections in Nizam and coastal Andhra on the opening day. But it will take some days to know the popularity of the film.

The opening day of the film took a sad turn as a young fan of Mahesh Babu from Tandipatni in Ananthapur district died in a stampede. The film viewers seem to love the action stunts and fights of the film. Actors Mahesh and Trisha’s chemistry in film also delighted the audience. And everyone was amused when Mahesh tells Trisha that she is ugly in one of the scenes.
