Pistons, first time I saw that list was some 5 years ago. Another one of those for-the-sake-of-bashing lists, without any substantial purpose. The only purpose it seems to serve is to show up once in while in a website/web groups etc in an attempt to put ARR down. Most of the instances cited here sound more like blind allegations thrown in without any proof. My guess is u copy pasted this list from other websites or did u actually listen to all the supposedly original songs (if u did, please let me know where i can get that music).
1. Chinna Chinna Aasai - So far nobody came up with that Linda Seager or Linda Seger or Linda whoever nursery rhyme that Chinni chinni aasai is supposedly a copy of. I wonder why!! On top of that, Chinna chinna aasai more than nursery rhyme tune. That song showed how ur sondscape can have a contemporary (at least then) feel without having to make the listeners feel alienated. Delicate touches of flute and guitar licks, and once-in-a-while lush string pads accompany the main tune thats painted on a reggae-type chords and catchy bass line, while the interludes take a different turn with some folksy music thrown in.
2. Same with the Rukmani humming, god knows where that 'Profiler' song is. I am ignorant, so could u please furnish me some info on this band??
3. I havent seen the car commercial that Pudhu Vellai Mazhai beat is allgedly taken from. Its a simple beat with some reverb added onto the snare drum (or whatever was used), with the timapani(?) thrown in when the song is in crescendo. As ur list points out later on, the 'sound'(A synth bass playing 1/8 notes and reverb laden drums) of this song is definetly inspired from Chariots of fire. But beyond that I dont see anything else.
4. Putham pudhhu bhoomi - I havent seen the volkswagen car commercial, and nobody has come up with the clip either. My only complaint with this song is probably the operatic vocals might have been from a sample CD.
5 , 6, 11, 13 and 17. All the songs in question use commercially available loops (another of my complaints with ARR) that have also been used by Dr Alban, Ace of BAse and Deep Forest.
7. Telephone Manipol Interlude - Dude, in the first place, there is no flute used in the second interlude of Telephone Manipol. The guy who first made up this list made that mistake, and subsequent people who use this list are blind enuf to simply copy paste it rather than verify the veracity of the list. May be the original guy meant the flute in the first interlude. Again, its just another way to play a flute, and if that amounts to copying, nobody is original.
8, 9, 10 and 16. Same as 1, 2, 5 and 6. No substantiated proof so far. By the way, the movie Wyatt Earp came out in 94, and Bombay came out in 95. If the theme was indeed copied from the Wyatt Earp movie, there would have been hell of a cry when the theme was used for various commercials and concerts by other composers. Simple logic dude.
12 Kuluvalilley - It is not the Muthu song's guitar piece that was used from the english song, its the bass guitar dude. (Another of those copy paste mistkaes). And again, the bass guitar changes whenever there is a significant shift in the melody. And by the way, the guitar piece that u said is copied, is actually played by none other than Guitar Prasanna. Another thing is the carnatic kinda piece that comes in the middle is a traditional song.
14. Paakadhe - Dude, ask anybody who composes music, they wud all say that Ga3 P D2 is a common phrase. A 'composer' is not that deprived of talent to copy that phrase. Same with the song no 19 in ur list, Sa Pa is another of those common phrases which u cannot avoid. Meri Saari and the Simon Garfunkel's tune both employ that phrase.
18. If Kadhal Desam rhythm is a copy then so are umpteen tabla and dholak rhythms. Think about it.
20. Finally I see one of those genuine accusations in ur list. The sound of this song is definetly influenced by the Sa Ni2 phrase on a cello (or double bass??) used repetitvely in both the songs. Other than that, I dont see any thing else. Even that bass line, both depart from each other at certain places. I do agree that Desafinado is a cool song.
And the irony of ur post: Unless ur the original creator of this list, U urself copied the list from somebody else (without giving any credit or info on where u got it from) and ur using to it say that ARR copied so and so. I am also tempted to make another comment, but I'll refrain from doing so. And before u pounce on me, negate my post and know that I dont even know u to have any ill will. I woud have agreed with u if u pointed out the piano piece in Hello Mr Ethir... or something like that.
Disclaimer: Though the post's tone suggests a support to ARR, thats not the intention of this post. I just wanted to point out some things.

I never knew that rahman used the same samples what aceofbase used..do u have link to justify.. so beats copy cheste copied/inspired anakodadu anthey kadha..vanilla ice "ice ice baby" was hot in 1991..he was sued for using the beat from the song "Under Pressure"..only starting beats copy chesaadu ani..

and if the beats make you think that the whole song is copied... ,,..
u know what.. even I jumped into conclusion when I first heard ace of base long back... that I discovered something. i was ignorant that time.
