i don't think it will be a problem to find out an apartment for your friend to share especially in a place like NoVa. if you go to the nearest indian grocery store, you may find some ads (looking for room mate etc.) and then talk to your friend and explain him the situation. any sane person would understand and will not mind finding a place for himself. if you can't find an ad that says 'looking for a room mate' you can help him in finding a place to live by placing an ad in the local indian grocery store (looking for an apartment to share).
another suggestion is, if it is ok with the rest of the roommates except one try to convince him since it is going to be a matter of 3-4 months (weekends he might be visiting his family, and weekdays, it is after work). if only one of your roomies doesn't agree then ask him to find a room himself (if and only if the lease is on your name)

Friends,
I am in a moral dilema and need your advice.
An acquaintance of mine forwarded my resume to his former company and I obtained a job here. He has been instrumental in my getting a job and my progress thereafter.
He obtained an interview call in VA and is currently with me. I live with bachelors in a 2 bedroom (with an extra den) apartment. Currently we are 6 people. He mentioned that he wants to live with us if he gets a job.
Meanwhile, my ammamma and chinna tammudu got their visas and will be coming to join me in August. My ammamma will be staying with me during her visit (3 months with me and the other 3 months with my pedda tammudu in wisconsin). Also my chinna tammudu will be with me before he leaves after 2-3 weeks to NJ.
a roomie of mine told me that it will be difficult to accomodate another person as already we are feeling cramped for space. PLUS since he is married it may be difficult for him as well as us (bachelors) to be comfortable. my roomie already refused another person from joining couple of weeks back. they have no problem with my ammamma joining me as no sane person would have problems with a family person coming over.
An option is to take a new apartment. But i am concerned because that will involve additional expenditure to me and i am not sure how many of my present roomies will join me. our lease for the current apartment ends in september. Also living with bachelors can help me save money for my loan and also future. pelli taravaata elagu tappadu kada kotta apt teesukovatam. i want to enjoy the last couple of months of my bachelor life.
taking care of my grandmother is my responsibility by all means but what should be my move towards my friend who helped me get a job.
For my conscience not to hurt me, I have to give justice towards the person who helped me find a job and at the same time not put myself in a precarious position w/regard to my economic situation and relation with my present roomies. |
