Superstar nightmare at the box-office!

The colossal failure of Chiranjeevi’s Andarivadu at the Andhra box-office has created shockwaves in the industry. What has frightened the trade is that the film just had a one-day opening and started sliding from day-two which is bad news for Chiru.
The message emulating out of this colossal failure is loud and clear- “Even die-hard fans of superstar will not make a film a hit, if it has no story to tell”. The charisma of a star is only a one-day miracle and the film has to have some stuff to make it a box-office success.
2005 has been bad for Telugu film trade as all superstar films like Pawan Kalyan’s Balu ABCD, Venky’s Subhash Chandra Bose, NTR’s Naa Alludu and Narasimhudu, Balayya’s Vijayendra Varma(2004) and now Chiru’ Andarivadu were all flops. The combined losses of theses films will be over Rs 150 Crore!
Now everyone is waiting for the release of Nagarjuna’s Super which the trade is hoping may revive the sagging morale of Tollywood. Remember that Nag’s last film Mass was a hit!
