I might have to agree with you( completely) on this stament and only this in your entire post. All the other points are debatable.
as long as the icons for the black communtiy are PUFF DADDY, Jayz, and all the punk hiphop trash talking stars, as long as the icons are wife beaters like iverson, rapists like kobe, as long as the leaders are like Al sharptn, jesse jackson there is no hope.
I think you have quoted almost half the black personalities that you know over her. There is a subtlity that you miss which I will try to explain. Every culture has a genral flow and convention when it comes to day to day activities , they are excpetions in fileds of ( sports, education, entertainment) just as in our own country.
Roles models are by choice not by definition. Even we dream of becoming a Amitabh, a Daler Mehendi, an Azharuddin, and a Jadega. I have tried to choose great yet tainted people to just give you a feel.
What Cosby is trying to say and what I support is the general upbringing in the projects and he is asking for a grass roots level change. He is asking us to keep entertainment and upbringing aprt. His concern is that the entertainment is not the infotainment that he expects it to be. Education via wrong choice role-models is just a part of the large problem.
Alsharpton is a learned man so is Jesse Jackson( ven if Bill O 'Rielly thinks otherwise) and so
are Bill cosby, condoleezza rice( even though half the worlds thinks she is a liar), Collin powell, a harvard grad like Will smith..
But is there is any wrong doing it is easy to target a black becuase they are not well respected. A black man is always a target becuase of the past and the white supremacy. Assk the (KKK) bastards.
I think we both mean the same, where as you have made a definitve choice of who is good and who is bad, where as I am not willing to make a choice and label them. What matters is the all round developmnent and not the personal characteristics of some of the famous black people.
Ofocurse we could discuss more on this, you willing and time permitting.

when they get their priorities right they will get soemwhere.
