If you are coming to chicago on july 4th weekend then you can go to taste of chicago .. it is a kind of international cuisine fair where you will get to eat all kinds of international food items but if u r a vegeterian it is not worth of your dollar.
Since this is summer time you can have fun on michigan lake beach and also you can go on boat rides( if you think taking boat ride on michigan lake is not much diff than goin boat ride on hussain sagar then better not drop the idea).
If you think chicago is like just any other place then better drop the whole idea of driving to chicago.

navy pier (if u r excited to just spend 18 bucks in parking and roam on a pier, nothing much different that roaming in vizag, go to navy pier)
if u r religious go to aurora temple, lemont temple and u end up eating indian food there which u happen to buy in the canteen which is associated with the temple.
if u are excited just to spend ur 18 bucks just to get on top of a building get up on sears tower (otherwise nothing special about it).
best thing about chicago is just try various restaurants in downtown
