High Speed Internet.

If HSI bill per month is less than $20 or if your Long distance bill is more than $20, then take VoIP...

If you are OK to spend $20 per month for long distance then this is the best. Go ahead and take..this is very easy.

>>6. You cannot have multiple outlets in home like land line. You need to connect cordless at same place and use cordless handsets

There is workaround for this.

If u live in a home (Not apartment) then unplug the local telephone inlet which comes to the house.

The wire from the modem should be connected to the wall insead of phone. With this other outlets in home will be wired.

Only problem is 911 is free (in Vonage) but will be routed thro some central exchange.

I am paying $14.99 for a month and $2 for taxes. Ika cell phone elaanu vundhi.

Its very good deal

Evvarnian refer seyamante nenu Vonage ki sethaanu. U get a free month too

Aithe OK mama..

It takes 3-4 weeks to keep the same land line phone number. till then you get a temporary number.

You need to fax LNP form to keep the same number.

Torrents to download cheste phone frequent gaa router/modem reset cheyyali..

Kani you get free 3 way conference, call forwarding, call waiting, voice mail. whenever you get a voice message, there is one option which will send you a mail..

Call forwarding option can forward your calls to cell phone that way you wont miss any calls even not at home. I used to do that. Free minutes appudu matladevadini.. And also number choosi cell lo teesukune vadini..

I have two VOIP lines one from Packet8 and second from Vonage.

They both work good but you should have reliable internet connection. that is key.

Some more advantages:

ANswering is included, can check message online also.

All numbers are recorded online (Outgoing and incoming).

For $9 a month you can get extra fax line.

The following are problems with VOIP:
1. 911 is $5 extra per month
2. Power outage will halt your phone
3. Router+modem resets are common which is a big pain
4. if you forward you calls, this feature fails frequently and you wont be getting calls
5. Heavy downloads+internet activity will decrease audio quality. there is audio lag like using calling cards to india
6. You cannot have multiple outlets in home like land line. You need to connect cordless at same place and use cordless handsets
7. Early termination fee of $60 if terminated before 12 months. ( This doesnt apply for retail activation )
8. No caller id by Name. ( Just number )
9. Need to dial local calls as long distance like 1-202-222-4354 instead of last 7 digits or 10 digits.

Advantages:

1. Very cheap compared to Land line ( packet8 is 24.99 with 911 per month. Other are little bit more costly )
2. Long distance included to US and Canada.
3. If you have broad band in India and have one more adapter, the calls is free between two connections.
4. Free unlimited between same VoIP phones.
