How relevant is the subject now, since relations have improved between the two countries?
Don't forget it was a major war. Just as World War II, which happened long ago, yet films are made on the subject even today in Hollywood. Relations between Germany and England have improved, yet anecdotes from their saga still inspire filmmakers. There's nothing wrong in the timing.
