There were some attempts to recreate Sholay in Hindi. One eclose attempt was Aandhi Toofan starring Shotgun Sinha, Mithun and Hema.

pulp, that was a good observation about siva and sholay. countless movies have thence been influenced by that masterpiece. when gabbar inquires with his followers ( sarkaar, namak scene, gabbar's intro actually ) , the way silence is used by Sippy, totally awesome. never has a traditional good-wnis-over-evil story been told so effectively in Hindi cinema. I guess, Vidhu chopra's ex-wife has written a book with much more juicy gossip about Sholay |

Sholay is a textbook in film making for me..10/10 in every aspect..
chalam: yeah the train chase is on PAR with hollywood standards..
even the opening of the movie is excellent with a long single take..
one of my favrt scenes from the movie is where GABBAR kills SK's family..the entire scene in slow motion and all the shots freezed and released slowly..and again GABBAR points the gun at SK's son and the sound of the gunshot is mixed into the sound of the steam when the train stops and SK gets down from the train..
similar mixing of sound in shiva when the botany guy's head is smashed onto a rock and this sound of head hitting the rock is mixed into the sound of the door..where in the next scene NAG opens the door and steps into the hospital room..
even when SK removes the blanket covering the deadbody..its shot by shot similar to NAG removing the blanket from the dead baby's face in SHIVA..i guess even the wind velocity in both the scenes is similar 
SHOLAY is a PHENOMENON which cannot be re-created..

I don't think his action is now predictable.Now i think he is experimenting differrent roles .this year in Khakee and dev his performance was excellent and natural.other movies releasing this year are Dewaar and Black.
but only problem is amitabh is doing more films that too guest roles. |

Infact, shrigo raises a good point. mid 70s were the times of phoolan devi and her dare-devilry. Sholay kind of, cashed in on that image. The difference from other dacoit movies was that when Feroz khan started his cow boys thing, the dacoits and cow boys thing somehow got mixed up, sholay was the breather then. Danny was offered the role of Gabbar Singh initially. what a loss !!

asalu sholay lo opening train scene can be compared to the best in hollywood, camera placement, editing chimpi dobbadu. the same sippy-salim,javed combo tried another larger than life movie in Shaan but that one bombed. again the villain's character of shaakaal remained popular. Shaan lo oka scene untundi - dogs chasing sunil dutt. dantlo helicopter lo camera petti theesthadu scenes, sippy had a different idea of taking actually. but he grew bigger than himself with sholay, could never beat it or reproduce it. okko saari jaalesthundi, maybe the growth should have been more gradual. |

yes jamadagni, capt prabhakar was a good movie. vadi characterization sholay level aa ante, emo bnut copy aithe kottadu. oppukovali. malla siva lo bhavani character masthuntundi. gabbar was shown as a 'leader' who inspires awe and fear in everyone. bhavani was a 'loner' who inspires only fear but both were very strong characters.
