Thanks for the update.
Kannada they remade MGM and it was Major (in which CHiru played guest role. Tleugu Kodi really did great job and Mahadevan's music was great.
Somehow most of the time S Gopal Reddy goes for remakes may be he will know how the movie will be than depending on the story itself.

I dont know why some fans are dead against remakes. Movie remake ante kaadhu ani vaadhisthaaru. Hindi remake ayyithe kionchem problem kaani migatha baasha la nunchui remake ayyithe OK.
Either way it reduces the burden of director. For heroes remake or direct it is same on his effort.

If nbk gets out on bail, may be he will be limited to shoot in Hyderabad or at the most in AP. if that is the case, S. gopala reddy should make a movie with a village back drop in the lines of mgm, muddula krishnayya, muddula mavayya, peddannayya etc on a shoe string budget. Sarath or kODi (may not work due to the differences) should be a good choice. if it is b. gopal, then he wants the mvoe to be made lavishly with heavy star cast etc.
let's see what happens.

p. vAsu is son of peetambaram who was the personal make-up man for ntr and mgr for several years. as a gratitude towards his services as a makeup man for them (used to go and do the makeup as early as 4:00 in the morning for one and 5:00 for the other), the two legends have agreed to do a movie each for him and the result is annadammula anubandham in telugu (i am not sure the name of the tamil version) which was based on dharmendra's yadon ki barat.
p.vasu directed nbk's debut movie (released first, even though disco king was started first) as a solo hero along with bharati.
regarding mgm, s. gopala reddi bought the rights and went to nbk. nbk immediately agreed and took him to ntr. ntr heard the story and mentioned to them that a lot has to be changed in the story and suggested bhanumati's name for the grand mother's role but asked them to get the opinion of trivikrama rao also. they both went to trivikrama rao and told them ntr's suggestion of taking bhanumati for the grand mother's role. he agreed with his brother's suggestion of bhanumati and suggested her role has to be increased. they went to bhanumati and she initially was hesitant to do it (the role of a grand mother in tamil was de-glamorurized living in a hut etc.). then she agreed to do it provided that they change the climax (her argument was that if the hero kills the villain and goes to jail, the heroine will be left here with her grand mother which doesn't go well with the telugu audience and suggested that the grand mother's character would kill the villain and the hero and heroine can be together) and also make changes according to telugu nativity. she sang two songs in the movie. the second song was recorded just days before the release and was inserted as a background song during the titles. this information was based on the interviews with s. gopala reddy, kodi, bhanumati to gemini t.v. regarding the movie mgm that was aired a couple of years back.

I agree with DeepBlue and Venu Mamas,
Vinayak would have been very good choice. Definetely, he is the most minimum gurantee Commercial director now. That fellow knows mass pulse and that too he is very good at directing powerful mass flicks which is NBK's forte. As far as I heard, when NBK saw rushes of CKR, he liked and praised Vinayak. I personally liked that movie a lot. Especially, NBK's performance as ChennaKesavaReddy is excellent. As DeepBlue babai said (Bellamkonda also said in many interviews), the only reason for that movie not reaching expectations is Bellamkonda. He was the one was released the movie in a hurry and everything went for a toss during it's release. Till last half-an-hour the movie was really good. Any how, I don't consider CKR as a flop, we already had lot of discussions on it, so I don't want to go into it again, it is the only so called flop movie in recent times ran 100 days in 40 centres) Vinayak has Aadi, Dil, Tagore, Samba and definetely would have been a good choice for this movie as well. But still, I like Gopal as well since he delivered continous blockbusters LorryDriver,RowdyInspector,SSR and NN with Balayya. |

Muddula Krishnaiah i=story is by Bharghav Unit. I remeber that. For other films they did credit the orginal writer.
Even Mukkupuduka is tamil remake. Most of the time their storis are by Kalaimani.
FOr Muddula MAvayya the story is by P Vaasu, villan in Seemasimham and director of Srihari's Prudhvi Narayana.
Maathopettukoku and Karan Arjun - no similarites. I DOnt think Maatho Pettukoku has revbirth and etc

S Gopal Reddy movies most of them are remakes till now. Think now the producer is mainly Bharghav Reddy than S Gopal Reddy. Hope they dont go to another faction movie and will make an entertainment movie this time
