Guess work began on how the Telugu film industry will change is the present YSR government implement all the promises. It is natural that we compare the situation with Tamilnadu as almost all the suggestions made and CM accepted are a replay of the measures already implemented by Tamilnadu Government. The basic points that generally come into discussion are, whether the remuneration of superstars would come down, whether the quality of film would improve and whether more and more small films would me made.

In Tamilnadu, super stars in the reckoning are Rajanikanth and Kamal Hasan. Irrespective of the new tax measures proposed, the status of Rajinikanth remains the same. But that of Kamal Hasan changed only after the new tax policy was launched there. The release of Kamal’s films that slowed down earlier, now picked up momentum. There too the high budget film would have to pay only fifteen percent tax on tickets actually sold. But in our state the extra benefit is the low budget movies (below 35 prints), would have to pay just 7 percent tax. It is believed that the superstars and directors working with them will also have to bring down their remuneration levels, as the new tax system cannot generate more money like before. Rajanikanth and his directors are not feeling affected by this policy that Jayalalitha introduced there. In case of Kamal Hassan rank artistes, the films that were stalled earlier, are now prepared for releases on Tamil New year’s day - that is April 14. This effect will be there on Telugu film industry too after our government also introduces the new Tax policy, streamlined after Tamilnadu model.

In the new tax policy system the low generation of money would have its effect on film business. Presently the exhibitors are competing with each other in offering huge amounts to top hero films in demand. That indirectly helps superstars to demand bigger money. In the new tax policy that competition will disappear, as the exhibitor has to pay tax only on tickets cut. The out source to fetch money gets reduced. The exhibitor cannot give more money to the distributor. The distributor will not give more money to the producer. Therefore the producer too becomes helpless to offer greater remuneration like before. The heroes either have to reduce their remuneration or start making films on their banner or play roles in more number of films. This may lead to inculcate some discipline into the system. There is hope of attracting some film makers from abroad and produce films in the stat.

The 'new producers' who are dubbed as ‘real estate’ producers, having no knowledge at all about cinema making are being counseled not to waste their money they earned. But most of them, enamored of cinema, are paying deaf ears. The money they loose on one film would help starting an industry with bank’s contribution too that can give living to some workers families.
