day after tomorrow is made on same template as independence day.
but the climax is changed.
open the movie with a dramatic event to indicate the event.
a hero who is basically an extraordinary guy but who doesnt get recognition as he has to get.
he has issues with his family.
side characters such as an african american, a white trash, etc are main characters in this catestrophy.
the event strikes the city with huge impact, include some foreig nationals for market of this movie(in this case a chinese lady, confernece in delhi etc).
now people have to surive against this odd, in independence day they defeat it but here they just survice it, so movie start to loose its effect from here.
watch independedence day, day after tomrrow, godzilla side by side u can find a common template.
but the director has this unique knack at making dramatic of things which are larger than life.

Actually, the movie (Day After Tomorrow) is not that bad.. it's sad when people don't appreciate the real issue portrayed in the movie, but expect the director to show them the solution..
With these kind of movies, the moviemaker always faces a 'Catch 22' situation, where he is criticized whether he offers a solution or not..
Actually, the SFX are great, and by the end of the movie, I was feeling sick, and when I got back into my car, I started to feel guilty... My car only goes 20 miles per gallon..  . If a SUV owner or other fuel-guzzling vehicle doesn't feel a slight sense of guilt after seeing this movie, then there should be something wrong with him..
Not a bad movie.. at least worth one look on the BIG screen.. |

EW magazine rated this movie as one of the top 10 disaster movies of all time. They gave #10 spot to this movie. Hmmm some hype.. eh |

movie is more of personal drama.
Independence day has humanity defeating and surviving against adversary whereas day after tomorrow has just humanity trying to survive the adversary.
movie was more concetrated on personal drama than adversary, so it falls short of expectations.

First thing i urge u guys is, dont miss this movie on bigscreen. The Special effects were awesome! From the director of Independence day, Godzilla and Stargate, Day After Tomorrow is not a bad movie. Roland Emmerich showed how ocean currents could change the weather pattern and take us back to the Ice age( If we were alive)!
Complete northern hemisphere would be wiped out and countries like Australia, Argentina and Mexico could be the next world powers
My rating: 7.5/10 ( Watch it on a BigScreen)
