True to its name, the forthcoming movie, Mass - Dammunte Kaasuko is expected to be an out and out 'mass' movie. Hero made it more than clear. "It is a typical mass movie. There is nothing different about the story... only the execution is different," he said. The movie will be released on December 23.
This is also dance director Lawrence's first foray into direction. When Nagarjuna was asked about the debutante director's skills, he said that they made a good team. "He directs even better than he choreographs," he quipped. So confident is the star of his director that he has retained rights for the entire Andhra and Uttarandhra.
In reply to a query about why he gave choreographer Lawrence a chance under his own banner, Nagarjuna said he the moment he heard the story, he wanted to say yes. "I took a chance with Ram Gopal Varma's Shiva. Just like the character of 'Bhavani' in Shiva, Rahul Dev's portrayal in a negative role would be equally memorable.
Nagarjuna gave full credit to Lawrence for etching the character of Rahul Dev so well.
Speaking about the title, Lawrence said, as a child, he'd often seen films sitting in the front benches. "I guarantee that all of you will be whistling at the right time," said the first-time director.
Actress Charmi will act opposite Nagarjuna. Speaking about her character, she said that it was not unlike her real self. "She is like the real life Charmi, jumpy, good-natured and so talkative that she can drive people mad."
"I hope that after the movie is released, people hate me enough," joked Rahul Dev. The film will have five songs.
