Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Shankar Dada MBBS amassed a mind-boggling share of 3.26 crores for the first week, which is the highest ever amount collected by any film. It was released with 90 prints, and over 110 theatres in the Nizam region. The earlier record for the opening was held by Chiru’s Tagore which had a 9-day opening, as it released on Wednesday and collected a share of 3.2 crores. Tagore collected a share of 2.8 crores (See Tagore Opening week shares) for the first 7 days in the Nizam region. The number of theatres in the city was reduced to 8, from the 40 booked for the first week. While the film is still going housefuls in the city, there is a marginal drop in the districts. Trade pundits attribute the drop to the on-going festival which is celebrated well in the Nizam region, and hope the film will elevate to housefuls, once the festival hungama is over. The shares of the film from other regions is awaited. For more, stay tuned.
