Synopsis
Comedy is not a genre one would associate with Mega star Chiranjeevi, as over the past decade, his forte has been mass entertainers with punch line dialogues and action. But it may prove to be a wise decision as this light-hearted entertainer with a tried and tested formula has succeeded in Tamil also.
Shankar Dada M.B.B.S is not just a comedy but also belongs to the gangster genre. A local ‘goonda’, Shankar (Chiranjeevi) and his gang go around solving monetary situations and disputes using threats and underhanded tactics. One day, news reaches him that his strict father is making a visit to see him.
The entire gang collaborates in converting Shankar’s den into a fake hospital. Scared to tell the truth that he is a goonda, Shankar has instead convinced his parents that he is a doctor. And every year when they visit him from their village, Shankar and his friends pretend to be doctors.
The charade does not last long as Shankar’s father meets his old friend (Paresh Rawal), a senior doctor with a beautiful daughter (Sonali Bendre) who is the childhood friend of Shankar. The parents decide that it might be a good idea to arrange marriage between the two doctors. But news reaches the doctor that Shankar is an impostor and is actually a ‘goonda’.
Shankar tells his close friend ATM (Any Time Murder),(Srikanth) that he is determined to make his parents proud of him by becoming doctor by hook or crook and marry Sonali.
