PRINCE has once again proved that he is the KING of capital city. His recent release ARJUN has turned out to be the biggest hit of the year 2004 in hyderabad, inspite of the bad publicity created by certain group of people and media. ARJUN has completed its 60 days run successfully in the city with 4 direct theatres and is still going strong currently running in 6 theatres(4+2)and is ready to enter its 10th week. No other film released in the year so far is able to run in 4 direct theatres even after completing 60 days. Thats the stamina of prince in the capital city.
Going into the history of hyderabad cinema, out of seven films prince has two silver jubilees in his kitty which no other hero has. With the increasing growth of satellite channels and VCD culture, now a days it has become very hard even for the block buster films to draw audience in the long run. In such a scenario, its a stupendous acheivement for prince to have two silver jubilees in the city within a very short
span. For the past 7,8 years hardly 5 films celebrated silver jubilee in the city. Apart from prince's murari and okkadu, usha kiron's "nuvve kavali", teja's "jayam" and also balakrishna's
"narasimha naidu" which some how managed to have
175 days run. okkadu is the first film in the city to have 7 hundred days theares(the only film that has crossed this record is tagore). And its still in the no.1 position in terms of shares and collections not only in the city but also
in the entire nizam area.It has also created a record, by running highest no. of days(127) in dilsukhnagar and malkajgiri areas, which is still intact.

Prince Mahesh Babu is one of those few stars who tasted success at a very young age. Of the eight films he acted , he got awards for four films. He kicked off his career with a Nandi for best newcomer in Rajakumarudu, followed by jury awards for Murari, Takkari Donga, and the latest for Nijam in the main category. Getting the award itself is a great achievement for any actor, but this accomplishment assumes significance for Mahesh Babu, as his father Krishna who is considered a superstar with more than 200 films , failed to get a Nandi till date, despite some sterling performances in films like Sakshi, Alluri Sitaramraju, Eenaadu and so on. |
