Venu garu cheppindi aksharala nijam. With kids its very tough even if both are working. Daycare costs here in CA range from $2000-2500 for 2 kids. And not mentioning the guilt/problems of your kids being taken care by strangers.
A lot of my friends working for Wipro/Satyam etc. have come here on long assignments. I feel that theirs is a good balance as they get to enjoy the best of both the worlds. They can save some money here and they get their base salary in India also. The company also pays for the India tickets (once in 2 years) for the whole family. And they don't have to worry about american economy or losing jobs etc.
As a consultant you might work for only 8hrs but as a FT employee, there may not be significant difference in the pressures & the work load between here and India. My friends in Oracle and Cisco slog like crazy just like their counterparts in India. |

I dont know, if the things stay same or not..
But taking into consideration of so many people come to US everyyear by taking so much pain from India, I would definetely assume Life in US is better than life in India. If you dont move here, there is high probability that your kids will(like we did).
any ways, If he stays there, work hours will usually be about 10 hours where as here as a consultant, you work 8 hours.  pressure will be less, mental stress will be less as day to day life is a little more comfortable here.
But stay home wife's life is not that easy and 2 kids, buying house and etc will be very painful down the lane in US.
probably, if you buy a house in banglore now, and after 10 years, the value of the house it self might equal the savings you could get from the US job. so money may not be the real consideration to be taken, as India's economy is growing at 6-8% and america's growing at 1-2%.

Consulting ante job vuntene pay vasthundhi.
Assuming he can get around 70K per year which will be around 4.5 K after tax (possible as single working with 3 dependants) he might be able to save around 2K. Montly 2.5K ante happy gaa enjoy cheyocchu.

the answer is based on his priorities. are the kids in school? How much is he going to miss his family, does his wife want to work etc..
if his wife wants to work, coming to US is the better deal. if not, India is better(for her). well, for kids, india has better school until graduation.
and for him, Its pretty much same. there is some risk and initial hickups of coming as consultant, but other wise its same. |

My brother having 6 yrs experience in .net is planning to come to US in Feb 06. Already got his H1 Visa through a consultancy in NJ...
Recently he got an offer from a well known company IN BANGALORE it self, and the package is 10 lks/annum....
I told him to stay there it self and enjoy the indian life... as he is already married and blessed with 2 kids....
Do u guys think its worth for him to come to US at this time and working as consultant in .net???
